Platform Development Pilot Program
This pilot program will establish a framework for the support of research infrastructure in order to deliver improved research capabilities and outcomes. As part of this program, the MMI will provide a platform support officer for each of the selected platforms. This person will provide support for the platform under the direction of an academic leader, who will be required to promote the platform and regularly report on usage.
The pilot program is an initiative instigated and overseen by the Melbourne Materials Institute (MMI) in partnership with the Melbourne School of Engineering and the University's Research Infrastructure Strategy Office.
To date, two platforms have been commissioned:
- Nanomaterials Characterisation led by A/Prof. Raymond Dagastine; &
- Advanced Fluorescence Imaging led by Dr Angus Johnston
In the coming months, the MMI hopes to commission another platform supporting the fabrication activities of various research groups across the University.
In the meantime, information regarding the Platform Development Group and its activities are available through the MMI's Technical Support Manager - Irving Ian Liaw.
